Kozí Hrádek (Goat Tower)

Kozí Hrádek (Goat Tower)

Kozí hrádek is one of the three rocky dominants of the Mikulov skyline. Following the recent landscaping the locality has become a suitable freely accessible recreational centre.

Kozí hrádek has always controlled the strategic path connecting Brno and Vienna, thus providing for due protection of the important trading path. On the top of the Kozí Hill a two-storey bombarding tower with a gallery and loopholes was built in 15th century. The tower improved defence of Mikulov, especially the Mikulov castle (today chateau), whose defence system thus became advanced in the Central European context. The late Gothic fortification with its blade has survived until the present days. Kozí hrádek has thus remained an extraordinary civil work included in the core of the town of Mikulov. Following the recent landscaping the locality has become a suitable freely accessible recreational centre.
